Explore the Key Differences Between CS and CA

There are several institutes for CS and CA Entrance Coaching in Kolkata but it is vital to know the differences between the courses before selecting any one.
There are several differences between CS and CA entrance courses, though both of these are equally tough and sought after educational programs. Know the differences prior to joining any institute for CS or CA Entrance Coaching in Kolkata.
  • Expertise:- CA needs to have much more quantitative ability as compared to the qualitative skills. On the other side, CS requires one to have much more qualitative approach to his or her career. A Chartered Accountant needs to have excellent analytical skills. He or she should be extraordinary with numbers and he or she must be capable of handling extreme pressure. A CA must be accurate with numbers and just remember that there is no room for any numerical error in this field. In case of Company Secretary Program, the candidate should be too good in law and management part. The aspirant needs to be pretty good in the communicative part as he or she will have to advise the board of directors of a Company.
  • Authority:- Often the clients need someone who is capable of acting as the lawyer or the legal advisor standing in their favour. If the candidate is aiming to be a CA then he or she can act as the lawyer of the company as well. But the CS does not have the authority of defending his or her client or represent the company in any case. This is one of the major advantages of having the Chartered Accountancy degree over the Company Secretary degree.
  • Focus:- In case of the CA course, the primary focus is given on accounting. However, in the later modules of the course, Chartered Accountancy has several subjects from different domains in order to make the course a comprehensive one. On the other hand, CS course puts more emphasis on the corporate law. CS course is qualitative because CS professionals have to communicate with the board members frequently. Hence, CA is a comprehensive course whereas CS is a global course as the people at the ICSI understand the worth of soft skills along with other technical skills.
  • Hiring Priority:- It is being seen that the Chartered Accountants are mostly hired by the consulting and the auditing firms with global repute but the Company Secretaries are hired by the reputed public enterprises and the government organizations. This does not mean that the CAs and the CSs are not hired by the other corporate sectors. The above are just what is noticed.
  • Salary Differences:- If any company required someone in its finance department, usually the company prefers the Chartered Accountants over the Company Secretaries as the CAs have much wider scope of knowledge as well expertise as compared to the CSs. There are significant differences in the salary structures for a CA and a CS. A CA earns almost double of what is earned by a CS in today’s market. This is because of the power and the authority that a CA can exercise in the favour of his or her clients.
To be a professional CA or a CS one has to qualify the competitive examinations. In order to crack these tough exams in the first attempt only one needs to join the coaching institute and attend the CA classes or the CS Executive Classes in Kolkata regularly.
